Mimo Garcia (Bulgarian: Мимо Гарсия; born Dimitar Stoyanov Gruev on 16 February 1998) is a Bulgarian director, actor, TV/radio host, writer and LGBT rights activist[1] best known for his role as Ugly Rischelieu in Radio Serial (by Mimo Garcia) and as co-host of "For Kids with Slava and Mimo"[2] (2012–2015) and "An hour with Slava and Mimo" (2015-to present).[3][4] From April 8, he is the creator of the online platform against discrimination - "Think, Wants and You can Realize" (на български: "Мисли, Искай и Можеш да се Осъзнаеш". Съкратено "МИМО").[5]
Early life
Mimo Garcia was born on 02.16.1998 in the capital of Bulgaria - Sofia. He never used his birth names and said that he hates them. He changed his name in court at 18.[6]
Personal life
On February 8, 2015, Mimo Garcia announced in his blog against the statements of the Pope in connection with the beating of children.[7] On February 27, 2015, in his blog, he wrote an article in support of gays and lesbians. The same day, he launched the first petition in Bulgaria to legalize same-sex marriages.[8][9]
Career
In 2010, he won the competition and became a host of "Mimo Time". The show ended in 2015. From 2010 to 2013 (originally broadcast) and in 2015 (revived series), he played the role of Hubert in "Kafe Lale". From 2012 to 2015, Mimo Garcia is co-host of "For kids with Slava and Mimo".[10] From 2015 to now, he is co-host of "An hour with Slava and Mimo". He was a guest in Bulgaria national TV7 in 2014.[11][12][13][14] From September 2015, he will play the role of Eric Sokolov in Slava Lessy's serial "Life without masks." The series is against homophobia and domestic violence.[15][16][17][18] From 23.02.2015 he is creator and main voice in Radio Serial (by Mimo Garcia).[19] From April 8 is the creator of the online platform against discrimination - "Think, Wants and You can Realize" (на български: "Мисли, Искай и Можеш да се Осъзнаеш". Съкратено "МИМО").[20]
