Dota 2[edit]

At EPICENTER, a LAN Dota 2 tournament, MinD_ContRoL shared that he plays no specific heroes, and play what is given to him by the captain drafting in order to make things work. He has actively played all Dota roles and continues to do so in Ranked matchmaking in order to remain versatile.[1] Ivan is one of the few gamers, noted to earn a higher monthly pay than the president in the country they are living.[2] MinD_ContRoL often spends more than 8 hours a day practicing Dota 2 in his favourite offlane role.[3]

Earlier in his career, there was a series of dramatic events in pub Dota 2 games, where he was often reported by players as stating rude remarks toward Russian players. After being confronted by other teams like Team Empire, he quickly apologized and donated a sum to a charity organization.[4]

With Team Liquid[edit]

Ivanov is one of the original members of Team Liquid, an esports organization that signed the previous team $5Jungz. The other players were KuroKy, FATA-, Matumbaman, and JerAx, which debuted as a team under the new banner in The Summit Dota 2 tournament. The team initially made bootcamp in the Netherlands and prepared for the tournaments there.[5]

In 2017, Team Liquid, under the captainship of KuroKy, took the grand prize in The International 2017, the year's biggest Dota 2 LAN tournament. The team scored 2-0 victories in best of three matches against competitors like iG.Vitality, Fnatic, Infamous, Team Secret, and Team Empire. They didn't lose a match in the group stage but fell down to the lower bracket of the event, facing elimination. They followed with 6 consecutive wins and became the International's grand champions by defeating Newbee 3-0, resulting in the first 3-0 grand final of The International ever. The team's champion roster consisted of Lasse "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen, Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi, Ivan Borislavov "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov, Maroun "GH" Merhej, and Kuro "KuroKy" Salehi Takhasomi.

In 2019, Team Liquid came second in The International 2019, losing only to Team OG in the grand finals with a score of 3:1[6]

With Team Nigma[edit]

Team Nigma was formed after Team Liquid finished second in The International 2019, as 4 of its former players, incluiding MinD_ContRoL started their own organization.[1] In 2020, the team won the OGA Dota PIT 2020 Season 2 and were crowned champions after a 3:2 grand final against Alliance.[7]

With a reverse sweep of 3:2, Team Nigma defeated Team Secret in a best of five grand final in the WePlay! Tug of War: Mad Moon tournament and became WePlay! Champions.[8]
