Minami (Korean: 미나미; Japanese: ミナミ) is a Japanese singer and a member of the girl group Rescene. She received early attention as a contestant on the MBC reality competition My Teenage Girl and later became associated with a viral video moment that helped bring wider attention to Rescene.[1][2]
Career
Minami debuted as a member of Rescene on March 26, 2024, with the group's single album Re:Scene. At the group's debut showcase, she described Rescene's aim of using music and performance to evoke memories through scent.[3]
Viral recognition
In 2026, Minami appeared with Rescene leader Woni on Woni's personal YouTube channel in videos about Japanese gyaru culture. In one episode, Minami replied “Geoje, yaho!” to Woni's joke about visiting her hometown of Geoje. The phrase was repeatedly reported as a meme after clips circulated on short-form platforms and online communities.[2][4][5]
Reporting connected the renewed interest in the videos with the group's song “Love Attack” returning to the charts. The same coverage described Minami's gyaru persona as one of the characteristics that distinguished the members in Rescene's online content. A separate Hankook Ilbo feature examined Minami's public image and the way the catchphrase expanded interest in the group.[2][5][6][7]
