MindsEye is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Build a Rocket Boy and published by IO Interactive. It will be releasing on Windows, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5 and EVERYWHERE as an EVERYWHERE World.[1]
Gameplay
In the game, players take on the role of Jacob Diaz, a former soldier grappling with memory loss and recurring flashbacks tied to a mysterious neural implant known as the MindsEye. Driven to uncover the truth behind this implant, Diaz heads toward the fictional desert metropolis of Redrock, where the bulk of the story unfolds.
The game is planned to consist of eight episodes in total. The first functions as a single-player, story-driven action-adventure experience, while the second introduces an online mode set to arrive in 2026. Within the first episode, players work through a series of missions woven throughout the world of Redrock.
Although MindsEye won't be a fully open-world game at launch, it adopts a "faux-open" structure similar in approach to Mafia: Definitive Edition, offering a sense of freedom and exploration without a true seamless open map. The subsequent online mode, however, is set to unlock Redrock as a complete open world, expanding the scope of the experience considerably.[1][2][3]
Development
MindsEye was first teased at the tail end of the EVERYWHERE teaser at Gamescom 2022,[4] offering an early, indirect glimpse of the project before it had a name. A full teaser dedicated specifically to the game followed on March 23, 2023, giving fans their first proper look at its world and premise. Later, on October 16, 2024, it was announced that IO Interactive—the studio behind the Hitman series—would publish the game, marking a significant step in its path to release.[5]
