Minerva Pictures is an Italian production and distribution film and television company, based in Rome, active in the film and audiovisual industry – at a national and international level – since 1953.
During its activity, the company has acquired and consolidated a film-library that boasts around 2350 titles, for a total of over 4000 hours of programming including film, television series, and documentaries.
The CEO of the company is Gianluca Curti. The President is Santo Versace.
History[edit]
The company was born in 1953, when Antonio Curti enters the world of the seventh art, acquiring the use of the historic brand Minerva. The Group Minerva International was founded in the early 1970s, based on the experience gained by the founding partner Ermanno Curti, son of Antonio. In the second half of the 1980s, the entry of Gianluca Curti, son of Ermanno, into management allowed the company to further develop its internationalization, thanks to a decisive action of commercial expansion that supported the increase in production activities and purchase of film-library titles.
With a library composed of over 2350 titles, enriched by masterpieces and rare gems that marked the history of film, Minerva Pictures established itself as a solid point of reference on the national and international film market as a producer, distributor, and multimedia publisher. Minerva Pictures' film library spans all film genres. In recent years, the company has focused on social issue drama cinema, on documentary filmmaking, and on the genres thriller, horror, and comedy.
Minerva Pictures has produced over 100 films and more than 40 documentaries, many of which have won prestigious awards in Italy and abroad.
With the brand Rarovideo, active in the national home-video market since 1999 and available in the USA since 2011 under the direction of Stefano Curti, Minerva distributes works of highly recognized artistic value using an interdisciplinary approach that combines product quality and editorial care. In a very short time Rarovideo has earned, in an extremely competitive market, a wide range of supporters and the love of critics. Rarovideo was defined by the New York Times as "the finest European film boutique".
As a digital editor, in 2014, Minerva opened Film&Clips, the best Italian channel of free and legal cinema of YouTube, with over 4 million subscribers and more than 2 billion views, which makes available to wide audience films, documentaries, clips, trailers and TV series in different languages.
In May 2019, Santo Versace joined the company as a partner of Gianluca Curti.
In 2020, the new Scripted and Documentary Productions department was launched, with the aim of extending production to the television and OTT markets.
In addition, as of 2020, Minerva Pictures has opened seven channels on all major OTT platforms, strengthening its position in the digital industry.
