Minette Libom Li Likeng (born Minette Mendomo) is a Cameroonian political figure. She holds the post of Minister of Posts and Telecommunications since the cabinet reshuffle of October 2, 2015, under the government of Philemon Yang.[1]

Biography[edit]

Childhood and Education[edit]

She was born on March 4, 1959 in Mveng (Esse), a town in Central Cameroon.

She attended primary school in her hometown. She obtained the Brevet d'Etudes of the First Cycle (BEPC) in 1976, the Probatoire Scientifique (Series D) in 1978 and the Baccalauréat Série D the following year in 1979. She left for the Cameroonian capital, Yaounde,  to pursue her university studies in the only university at that time, the University of Yaounde I. She obtained a degree in Economics, option Analysis and Economic Policies.[2] in 1982. In 1984, she obtained a diploma of inspector Financial Administration (Customs option) of the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM) in 1984[2]

Career[edit]

She began her professional career in 1984 as visiting inspector at the main office of Yaoundé Central Station. Four years later, in 1988, she left the political capital of Cameroon, for the economic capital, Douala. She holds the position of Head of IT Liaison Service for the customs sector in the Littoral region. In 1992, she was in charge of Studies N ° 2 at the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance. In 1995, she became Inspector Auditor in the area of ​​the center of the political capital. Parallel to this function, she became in 1997, temporary teacher of the National School of Administration and Judiciary. In 2002, she was promoted to Head of Legislation and Disputes Division at the Customs Directorate. In 2004, she became Head of Division of Legislation and International Cooperation at the Directorate of Customs, which she combined with that of the Director of Customs and ensuring all cases of temporary employment. During the period from 2004 to 2007, she occupied the specific function of relay of the Director General of Customs and ensuring all cases of interim. She ended up as Director General of Customs during the period from 2008 to 2015.[2]

Polical Party[edit]

She is a member of the ruling Cameroon People Democratic Movement (CPDM).

Distinctions[edit]

She received three distinctions in Cameroon from the program set up by the United Nations entitled Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

  • 1988: WCO Diploma (Best Officer)[2]
  • 2002: WCO (Best Officer) Diploma in Professional Ethics
  • 2005: WCO Medal for Significant Actions for Global Customs Outreach
