MiniDrivers is a Spanish YouTube-based web series. The series reviews Formula One races.

History[edit]

MiniDrivers was made in 2008[1] by Spanish nurse Adaco[2], that later founded his Adaconimation company to work on the series. He did the animation all by himself in Adobe Flash and he also voiced all the characters. Through years he improved the sound and animation quality alot, he also found some people to work on series together[3]. Since 2010 the episodes are sponsored by various racing-themed websites[4]. In 2011 MiniDrivers with MediaGame released official video game on smartphones[5], it was a top-down racing, the game was then discontinued. In 2012 the series got MediaChannel as a production company and moved from the original YouTube channel to new one. In 2015 Adaco decided to discontinue the series after the tenth season and to end it with a movie, he made a teaser for it and started the development[6], but sometime later he decided to cancel it and to continue making the episodes after the tenth season. Second MiniDrivers mobile game was released by Ivanovich Games in 2015 alongside MiniBikers one, now it was a 3D racing, made in Unity3D[7], due to complexity of the engine the game went abandoned in 2016. Since 2019 production company is Adaco Animation (rebranded Adaconimation).

Characters[edit]

  • Minidriver, the mascot of the series. In the first seasons he portrayed as the racing fan, since 2012 works as marshal.
  • MiniGirl, also a marshal, love interest of Minidriver.
  • Dark Minis, the main antagonists, they bring bad luck to drivers whole season. Each season there is new Dark Mini, each one of them is a real former racer, who had bad luck himself.

Spinoffs[edit]

Adaco made several other series, similar to this one. Most famous of them are MiniBikers (based on MotoGP) and MinEDrivers (based on Formula E), he also works on MiniVintage, that reviews historic races from 2001-2008 and MiniWhatIf?, that follows fictional stories, suggested by 'MiniFans' in comments (originally the series was called MiniStories).
