On April 21, 2015, President Juan Carlos Varela sanctioned Law No. 8 of 2015, which creates the Ministry of Environment (MiAMBIENTE). Its main function is to ensure compliance and enforcement of laws, regulations, and national policies regarding the management of natural resources and the environment.
