Minus8, sometimes known as MinusPal, chtkghk, and Memoji (born December 28, 1983[citation needed]), is a South Korean flash animator known for creating animations inspired by the works of Nintendo and the Super Mario franchise.
Personal life
Minus has been open about having mental disorders, such as depression. Minus himself has stated that he started making Flash animations at the age of 24.[citation needed]
Controversies
In mid-2023, he was harassed and partially doxxed by users from a controversial imageboard known as Soyjak Party over problematic posts found on a deleted Tumblr account owned by him, causing him to delete most of his social media accounts.
On December 14, 2023, Minus was subject to a raid on one of his livestreams, after which he announced his wish to leave streaming, art and the internet.
Career
Minus8 first appeared on Korean art forums in the 2000s, usually posting Nintendo fan-art, incorporating the character Princess Peach from the video game franchise Super Mario in his artwork. He rose to fame in the late 2010s, merging Adobe Flash animation with bouncy movements. He has animated many videos inspired by the works of other video game franchises, such as Super Mario, Pac-Man, Animal Crossing, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
He is known for creating his original characters, his bouncy animation style paired with music, and characters inspired by other video games.
