Mir Hwang is an American tech entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of GigFinesse, a technology platform that connects venues directly with live talent. GigFinesse has raised more than $10 million in funding[1] from investors including Bessemer Venture Partners[2], NJME Investments, and the NYU Innovation Venture Fund.[3]

Early Life and Education

Hwang was born in South Korea and grew up in Vancouver, Canada, where he started playing drums in middle school. By high school, after his family moved to the Washington, D.C. area, he was playing professionally in various local bands.[4]

Hwang attended college at NYU, where he continued performing as a touring session drummer before shifting his focus to entrepreneurship.[5]

Career

Hwang co-founded GigFinesse in 2019 alongside his cousin Ryan Kim, a former Google employee.[2] The company launched shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic. The company booked $2.4 million in revenue in 2022[5] and has since grown to support over 50,000 shows[6] nationwide. GigFinesse has approximately 30 employees with offices in the U.S. and Seoul, South Korea.[5]

Recognition

Hwang was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30[3] list in the Consumer Technology category in 2024 and Crain's New York Business 20 in Their 20s in 2023.[4]
