Mirian S. Orlando, BA [1], B.Sc.[2], M.Sc.[3], PhD Student [4], is an Argentine Psychologist and Psychoanalyst. She studied Clinical Psychology at the Catholic University of Argentina. In October 1990 she has taken a post of Forensic Psychologist at the Criminal Law Court of Argentina - Juvenile Tribunal and she has been monitoring Young Offenders for more than twenty five years in order to reintegrate them into the society. Her research has focused on the Resilience and its relation with the Criminal Desistance. She is also focus on designing interventions aimed the prevention of Young Delinquency from the early life.
Career[edit]
In 1983, Orlando set up the Psychological Department at Joseph Estrada School of Buenos Aires, where she gained a wide experience in the study of the development of Infancy and Adolescence. In 1990, she has become a Forensic Psychologist at the Criminal Law Court of Argentina- Juvenile Tribunal where is in charge of monitoring Young Offenders in order to reintegrate them into the society. She has monitored more than 3000 young offenders over the years. In 2014, she become a Psychoanalyst at Buenos Aires Psychoanalytical Association, Member of the International Psychoanalytical Association, IPA, being supervised by recognized psychoanalysts as Professor Peter Fonagy (2012 and 2018). From 2015 at date, she is following the PhD whose thesis is: Resilience and Socio-emotional Competencies in Recidivist and non-Recidivist Young Offenders. She also was supervised by Professor Michael L. Rutter (2017) an eminent scientist in this fields.

Honors and awards[edit]
In 2005, Orlando received the Judicial Excellence Prize from the Forum of Studies on the Administration of Justice and the Institute for Business Development of Argentina, IDEA. In 2015, she has also received a Diploma of recognition of the Psychologist Career from the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina, and in 2017 she was honored with the Diploma of recognition of the Judicial Career from the Criminal Law Court of Argentina.

From 1986 to 1991, Orlando was a member of the Argentina Red Cross. From 1992 to 2002 she was also a member of the Association of Forensic Psychologists of Argentina. From 2013 to date, she is a member of the Association of Mental Health of Argentina, Member of the World Federation Mental Health. In 2015, she was a member of the International Association of Forensic Mental Health Services, IAFMHS. From 2018 to date, she is a member of the American Society of Criminology, ASC.
