The Miss Grand Indonesia is an Indonesian beauty pageant that will be held annually since 2018 to select the entrant from Indonesia in the Miss Grand International pageant.

Before the inception of the pageant, the license to send entrants in the Miss Grand International was owned by Puteri Indonesia Foundation in 2013 and then was owned by El John Pageants from 2014 to 2015 and was previously broadcast on El John TV. Later, Puteri Indonesia Foundation took over again the license from 2016 to 2017 with Indosiar as the official broadcaster.

The new Miss Grand Indonesia will be crowned on July 21, 2018 at Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta.

History[edit]

2013 - 2017[edit]

In the year 2013, Nawat Itsaragrisil (currently is the President of Miss Grand International Organization) decided to establish a beauty pageant whose cause is to have its candidates and winners actively promote peace and "stop the war and violence" campaign. As a result, Miss Grand International was established.[1] The license to send Indonesian representatives in Miss Grand International pageant at that time was owned by Puteri Indonesia Foundation with Novia Indriani Mamuaja as the first ever Miss Grand Indonesia.[2]

From 2014 to 2015, El John Pageants owned the license and chose representatives from both of its pageant competition namely Miss Earth Indonesia in 2014 and Putri Pariwisata Indonesia in 2015. Margenie Winarti, Miss Grand Indonesia 2014 made the first placement for Indonesia in Miss Grand International pageant, placing in the Top 10.

From 2016 to 2017, Puteri Indonesia Foundation once again owned the license and chose representatives from Puteri Indonesia 2016 and 2017 respectively. Ariska Putri Pertiwi, Miss Grand Indonesia 2016 brought Indonesia its first international crown as Miss Grand International 2016.[3] In 2017, Puteri Indonesia Foundation introduced the title of Puteri Indonesia Perdamaian for its representative in Miss Grand International pageant.[4]

2018 - Now[edit]

In 2018, Nawat Itsaragrisil revoked the license owned by Puteri Indonesia Foundation and announced Dikna Faradiba as the new national director and Miss Grand Indonesia Organization as the new license holder, making Dikna Faradiba the youngest national director in beauty pageant history.[5] Dikna Faradiba is the 4th runner-up in Miss Tourism International 2016 (Miss Southeast Asia Tourism Ambassadress 2016) and also the winner of Putri Pariwisata Indonesia 2015.[6]

Province Competition[edit]

For the first Miss Grand Indonesia 2018 pageant, only three provinces hold a preliminary competition to choose their representative for the Miss Grand Indonesia pageant which are Bali, South Sumatra and West Java. In other provinces, the representative for each province are determined in a finale audition in Jakarta. The province winners hold the title "Miss Grand Province" for the year of their reign.
