Miu Sakurai (櫻井 美羽, Sakurai Miu, born January 11, 2002), better known mononymously as Miu, is a Japanese singer. She is best known for being a contestant on Produce 101 Japan The Girls, where she finished in fourth place and became a member of ME:I who are set to make their debut in 2024.

Early life

Miu was born on January 11, 2002[1] in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan,[2][3] as an only child.[4]

Career

2020–2021: Career beginnings

In 2019, Miu auditioned for JYP Entertainment's reality survival program Nizi Project (2020), where she competed to secure a spot in the label's next girl group.[5] However, she was eliminated in the first part of the series.

In July 2021, it was revealed that Miu would be participating in Mnet's survival show Girls Planet 999 as a contestant. It started airing on August 6, 2021[6] She was eliminated in episode eight and finished eleventh in J-Group.

2023–present: Produce 101 Japan The Girls

In September 2023, Sakurai joined Produce 101 Japan The Girls as a contestant. She finished in fourth place and is set to debut as a member of ME:I in 2024.[7]
