Mixed Nepali

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

This is an overview list of mixed languages formed by mixture with Nepali language. Mixed languages are linguistic varieties which may differ in pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.

Mixed Nepali can be defined as "a mixture of a native language with the Nepali language". Nepali speakers of different linguistic backgrounds and regions use a variety of different accents (systems of pronunciation), as well as various nativized words and grammatical constructions; many different Mixed Nepali varieties can be identified based on these factors. Mixed Nepali can be classified at broader or narrower levels: within a broad national or regional context. The combination of differences in pronunciation and the use of local words may make some Nepali varieties almost unintelligible to speakers from other regions.

Overview

Nepali is the lingua franca of Nepal and the only official language to date. The process of Khas-ization in Nepal imposed the Nepali language on all people of Nepal. The educational system uses Nepali and English as the only media of instruction. Therefore, in non-native communities, Nepali is mixed with their own native language to a fair or greater extent.
