Mlekpol is a Polish dairy cooperative. It is one of the largest producers of milk and dairy products in Poland, and among the top 20 largest milk producers in Europe. One of its most notable brands is Łaciate, which offers a wide variety of milk, cream, butter, and cream cheese.[1]
Production facilities[edit]
Mlekpol owns 13 modern production facilities in Poland. In 2016, the cooperative invested 100 million euro to build a new facility in Mrągowo, which is able to produce 3 million litres of milk per day.[2] It is also capable of producing 220 tons of powdered milk and whey, which helps in the development of exports for the company. It was the largest investment in the history of the Mlekpol cooperative.[3] Mlekpol does not only invest in production lines, but also conducts activities within the framework of the sustainable development policy, producing renewable energy. The construction of a cogeneration system with a biogas plant in Grajewo is the next stage of modernisation of the company's sewage treatment plant.[4]
Exports[edit]
Around 30% of Mlekpol's production is exported abroad. The cooperative exports to over 100 countries[5], including China, USA, South Korea, Japan, Israel, and Algeria. Within Europe, Great Britain and Ireland are among its main customers.[2] In China, Mlekpol cooperates with manufacturing companies that buy their products for processing, and also ships retail products under their brand name.[6]
