Moaen Shalabia (born October 14, 1958 in Maghar, Israel) is a poet,[1] writer and is one of the Arab Palestinian national minority in Israel.[2][3]
Career
Shalabia began writing in 1976. He published his poems in national local newspapers and in Arabic papers abroad. His first book of poetry was published in 1989.
He participated in many local and international festivals around the world related to poetry.
In 2000, Shalabia was awarded by the Palestinian education ministry for his efforts in enriching the national education and for his loyalty to the Palestinian issue and the principles of justice and freedom. He was also awarded by the "Arab intellectuals forum" in Jerusalem, 2008 as well as many appreciation certificates. Shalabia is also a member of the union of Arab writers and the movement of world poets (Poetas del mundo).
His literary work has been discussed and criticized by many in his homeland and worldwide. Some of his poems have also been translated into many languages, including Hebrew, French, Turkish, English, Romanian, Polish, Macedonian, Italian , Bosnian and the Albanian-Kosovo Language. His collection of poems was included in national and international anthologies.
