Modelling light

Modelling light (the device itself is known as modelling lamp) is a light used by professional photographers.[citation needed] It is a continuous light source,[1] and its main objective is to light an area, so that the photographer can preview the lighting on the subject, that the flash device will eventually have on the subject while the person takes the photograph.[2]
