Modern Persuasion is an upcoming movie, a modern telling of Jane Austen’s “Persuasion.” Created by Samuel Goldwyn Films and directed by Alex Appel and Jonathan Lisecki.[1] It is scheduled to be release on demand in December 18, 2020. An official trailer was released on November 13, 2020.[2]

Premise[edit]

Wren Cosgrove is a happy, single, and self-confessed workaholic who, after rising to the top of the corporate ladder, finds herself coming home every night to her cat. When her firm is hired by Owen Jasper, “the man who got away,” long-lost feelings are stirred, giving Wren a second chance at true love.

Production[edit]

On June 2020, it was announced that Myriad Pictures had acquired worldwide rights to the movie to be released on digital platforms. The film was also produced by is produced by Tangerine Entertainment and Tortyfly Pictures.[3]

Critical Reception[edit]

The film is planned to be released on December, 2020. On early reviews Kirk D’Amico, CEO of Myriad Pictures, mentioned that “Alicia Witt and the strong supporting cast including Bebe Neuwirth and Shane McRae humorously illuminate the challenges of getting into and maintaining relationships in the big city.”[4]
