Renewable energy
Renewable energy, with the Green Genius brand at the forefront, is one of the fastest growing business areas of Modus Group. In 2018, the investments in renewable energy comprised almost 80 percent of all of Modus Group’s investments. Today, Modus Group is developing renewable energy in 6 countries: Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Spain and Italy and is seeking to be among TOP25 renewable energy developers in Europe.[10] The company’s biogas projects in Belarus are implemented in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). [11]
The total capacity of Green Genius implemented and constructed projects amounts to more than 100 MW. The company estimates this equates to saving around 160 thousand tons of CO2 every year.
Modus Group has announced it is planning to expand its renewable energy activities in the future. Plans for 2020 are to develop 5 biogas plants with a total capacity of 5 MW in Poland and to start up a solar power project with an aggregated capacity of over 100 MW in Spain. In January 2020, Green Genius has signed a EUR 30 million loan with the Eiffel Energy Transition fund.[12]
