Mohamed Mayara
Mohamed Mayara (Tan Tan, 1975) is a Saharaui journalist, coordinator and co-founder of Équipe Média.[1]
His father was assassinated by the police during the Green March, in 1975.[2] As a consequence, he became a defender of Human Rights, and he was fired as a secondary school teacher after Moroccan authorities discovered he didn't tell their version of the Sahara Conflict in class.[2] Unemployed for over a decade,[2] in 2009 he founded Équipe Média, with the aim of "breaking" the media blockade the Moroccan government imposed on the RASD.[3] They produced the documentary 3 Stolen Cameras, receiving some awards at some festivals,[4] and he was the narrator voice in the film.[2]
