monday.com, formerly called dapulse,[1] is a team management platform designed to help teams collaborate and build transparency in the workplace.[2] The SaaS tool is used by a varied customer base, including startups to Fortune 500 companies, such as Carlsberg Group, Frost & Sullivan, McDonald's, WeWork, and Wix.com.[3] monday.com can be used by any team working together, from two freelancers collaborating on a project to thousands collaborating across the globe.[4] The non-tech segment of monday.com’s user base now consists of more than 70% of their paying accounts.[5]

The product[edit]

monday.com enables its users to manage the core of their business through the platform, including all workflow processes such as tracking projects, meeting deadlines, and enhancing collaboration.[6] The product is customizable to fit any business operation, ranging from R&D, marketing, sales, product and customer-management and has widespread appeal across over 200 business verticals.[7]

Board[edit]

One of the key offerings of the tool is centralizing all communication and keeping all team members engaged.[8] Managers and team members all have the same view.[9]

Pulses[edit]

monday.com’s pulse function is the essence of the software. It is a collaboration function that connects users to one specific topic, project or task. Within a pulse, files can be shared, communication and updates exchanged, and it serves as a common knowledge center. On the board, the pulse appears as a single line, which can be clicked to access additional information.[10] The board allows all users to see “the big picture”, as well as how projects are being broken down by team members, the status of each project, and if a project is stuck at a certain point.[11]

Timeline[edit]

Users can plan visually on the timeline to instantly see who's working on what, when, and for how long. Users can also look at a progress bar to see how much time remains until a deadline.[12]

API[edit]

monday.com utilizes REST JSON Application Programmable Interface (API). The API is capable of handling Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) requests and uses an API Token as authentication.[13]

Funding[edit]

In 2012, monday.com raised a $1.5 million seed funding round.[14][15] In June of 2016, the company announced the closing of $7.6 million in Series A round.[16][17] The round was led by Genesis Partners, with participation from existing backer Entrée Capital.[18] In April 2017, monday.com announced the closing of its Series B funding round, bringing total funding to $34.1 million.[19] The round was led by New York-based firm Insight Venture Partners, with participation from existing Series A investors Genesis Partners and Entree Capital.[20][21] In July 2018, monday.com announced a $50 million Series C funding round bringing total funding to $84.1 million. [22] The round was led by New York-based growth equity firm, Stripes Group, with participation from existing Series A and B investors, Insight Venture Partners and Entrée Capital. monday.com is now valued at $500 million.
