Monica Angle
Monica Angle is an artist currently living in Buffalo, New York[1]. Her works include watercolor painting, bookmaking and mono-print techniques.[2][3][4]
Early Life[edit]
Angle was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1962[4].
Education[edit]
Angle majored in folklore and mythology while studying painting at Harvard College and graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts in 1984 . She received a Master's degree in geography from Pennsylvania State University in 1987. She also studied printmaking and bookmaking at Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 1994.[1]
Career[edit]
Angle is a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, a member of the Board of Directors at Albright Knox Art Gallery[5], and a member of the Board of Trustees at Burchfield Penny Arts Center.[1][6] She has worked at the Craft and Folk Art Museum of Los Angeles and the Walker Art Museum in Minneapolis[7] She also provided images for Noah's Ark, a book of poetry written by her husband Sam Magavern.[8][9]
Exhibitions[edit]
Angle's work has been exhibited across the United States including Buffalo NY, Minneapolis MN, Boston MA , Charlottsville VA and Portland OR.[1][6][3][4]
Collections[edit]
Angle's world is held in both public and private collections including Burchfield Penney Art Center, Walker Art Center,[1] Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and Minnesota State Historical Society.[6]
Teaching[edit]
Angle teaches booking making through the Writing with Light Program at the Just Buffalo Literary Center. She works with Cornell University's Industrial Labor Relations School on mapping projects.[1][6]
Family[edit]
Angle currently lives in Buffalo with her husband Sam Magavern and two children.[6]
