Mónica De La Cruz-Hernandez (born 1974 or 1975) is an American politician from the state of Texas.
De La Cruz is an insurance agent and business owner and resides in the Rio Grande Valley, where she grew up.[2][1]
In the 2020 elections, De La Cruz ran in Texas's 15th congressional district, and lost to incumbent Vicente Gonzalez by 3 percent.[3] Endorsed by Donald Trump and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, she is running again in 2022, and will face Michelle Vallejo.[4][5][6][1]
De La Cruz has been married twice, and has two children. In 2021, she was accused by her estranged husband, Johnny Hernandez of being physically and verbally abusive to her stepdaughter through divorce proceedings in the Hidalgo County, Texas District Court.[7]
