Monica Plank

Monica Plank was a U.S. Marine Gunnery Sergeant who was killed in a hit-and-run accident while off duty on February 16, 2014. Plank was walking with her husband in Bellefontaine, Ohio when she was struck by a car. Plank and her husband were both on leave from the Marines, spending time with their five children and other family. Less than a week later, Holly Fowler was found responsible for Plank's death and subsequently arrested. Plank's family advocated for the maximum manslaughter sentence in court, but the court ruled that the evidence only supported a 30-month sentence. [1]
