Monitor Backlinks was established in November 2011 by Razvan Girmacea as a software as a service (SaaS) company based in Dublin, Ireland. It focuses on developing its own SEO tool for business owners, marketers, SEO professionals and agencies.

History

Monitor Backlinks beta version was launched on November 22, 2011, at NetCamp Net Start-Up, and it was called Bcklinks. It was founded and developed by Razvan Girmacea.

The initial version was designed only for monitoring backlinks on a daily basis. It was searching for link statuses (nofollow, dofollow, 404, server down, robots.txt blocked, etc.), added by the user manually into the platform. The tool also alerted the user when a link status changed.

In April 2013, the SEO Autodiscover feature was added that connected with Google Analytics and used other 3rd party APIs to discover links to the user domain on a daily basis.

In October 2013, discovering and monitoring competitors' backlinks and keyword rankings features were added.

The product has grown since then, and after an investment [1], it has become more complex and offers more useful SEO features (e.g., Reports, Disavow Module, Backlinks filtering).
