Monsanto's Law

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Monsanto building in Enkhuizen

Monsanto's Law is a term first published in a 1997 Monsanto Annual report stating "...the ability to identify and use genetic information is doubling every 12 to 24 months. This exponential growth in biological knowledge is transforming agriculture, nutrition, and health care in the emerging life sciences industry." This is a reinterpretation of Moore's Law frequently used by technology companies in Silicon Valley.[1][2] This term was initially used to encourage shareholders to invest in genetic technologies that would be highly profitable.[3]

Typically, the Law on Biosafety and Genetically Modified Organisms Act is what is referred to as Monsanto's Law.[4]
