Adam Atlas Balbusse (22 August 1986), professionally known as Monsieur Adi, is a French-American electronic artist, musician, composer, producer, and remixer. He first became noticed in 2010 for creating official remixes for British pop singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding and has since created official remixes for Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey, Katy Perry, Bastille, The Kooks and others.[1][2][3][4] In 2012, he released his Fire Fire Fire EP, which features the song "Last Stand" in collaboration with British pop singer/songwriter Gary Go.[5] On 23 April 2013, Monsieur Adi announced on Facebook and Twitter that he was "writing and producing music with Seal," to which the British singer/songwriter later confirmed on Twitter.[6] In 2014, Adi was chosen as the official DJ for the European leg of Beyoncé's The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.[7]
Music[edit]
Monsieur Adi's sound is a mixture of French house, electro house, synthpop, and classical, combining synthesizers and dance beats with orchestral instruments and compositions.[8][9] His remixes have been featured on many websites including SPIN,[10] Popjustice,[11] DIY,[12] and official Grammy Blogger Arjanwrites' blog and have been played on various radio stations including Le Mouv' by Laura Leishman in France, BBC Radio 1 by Pete Tong and Juice FM by Dave Whelan in the United Kingdom, George FM in New Zealand, and KCRW in the United States.[13][14][15][16][17] On 24 July 2013, Monsieur Adi revealed his new single "What's Going On," which features British singer/songwriter A*M*E and interpolates the hit song "Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)" by British R&B band Soul II Soul.[18] The song was used in the online fashion retailer Boohoo.com's 2013 Holiday advertisements.[19] Adi has also done a cover version of Blondie's "Heart Of Glass" for fashion giant H&M's Spring 2014 New Icons campaign.[20] On 21 October 2016, a new single titled "Bad Habits" was released which featured the vocals of American singer/songwriter VÉRITÉ. The single peaked at number eight on the Billboard Spotify Viral Chart.[21] It is expected to be on his debut album After Hours.[22][23]
The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour[edit]
Monsieur Adi was chosen by Beyoncé to support her on the 2014 European leg of her The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour as the official DJ.[24] He opened on all dates, except on 24 February in Birmingham, UK due to The X Factor UK winner Sam Bailey opening as a result of her winning the competition.[7]
