Monson Mavunkal is an Indian con artist who cheated people by selling fake antiques.
Early life and Education[edit]
Monson Mavunkal was born at January 16, 1969 at Cherthala, Alappuzha. He had only completed his education at a Polytechnic college. His father Chacko was a government servant and his brother got appointed in government service under the dying in harness scheme following Chacko's demise.
Career[edit]
His career was started at 90's when his wife was a school teacher got transferred from Rajakumari at Idukki.[1][2] He started to live at near the town. He started a Chain Survey School at Rajakumari Panchayathu and he also started a Second Hand Cars and Electrical Appliances. Where he starts fraudulent activities by promising the people's that Second Hand Television can be delivered in a number of ways for the lowest price from other districts and takened all the money and he cheats people by selling Old TV believing it to be New TV[3]
He then went on to sell second hand cars purchased from ₹1,00,000 to ₹2,00,00 per person. And they, didn't get Car and Television. and then he cheated a jewellery shop owner by saying he will much gold and he gives money too. But the people didn't complaint against him because they didn't have proof. After his wife was self transferred he later cames Cherthala and in 2003 he cames to live in Kochi to make scams.[4]
In 2003, he started an company called Kosmos Group, where he used to make Beauty products.[5]
After coming in kochi he mets an antique dealer named Suresh and he also wears the costume of the Antique Dealer and he rents a house and becoming a museum by bringing fake antiques including Silver coins for betraying Jesus Christ from Mose and Vishnu's Dasavatharam statue and Staff of Moses.[6]
Arrest[edit]
He was arrested at the engagement ceremony of his daughter.[7]
Kareena Kapoor's Porshe Boxter Car case[edit]
In 2021, after the days of arrest of Monson Mavunkal the police, while investigating his assets, has come across a Porsche Boxster in his ownership that has been lying, interestingly, in the possession of Cherthala Police Station.[8][9][10] The officials there claim that the car has no proper documents and was among the 20 vehicles seized from Monson in connection with the Sreevalsam scandal. After that the police investigates on their website to find their Porshe Boxster car's owner they shocked to knows that. The 2007 Registered Porshe Boxter car was used by non another than Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor. This news gets to goes Local and National News and then Kareena Kapoor didn't says any comments about this.
Involving in a Rape case[edit]
In 2021, Monson Mavunkal was arrested by police for Involving in a Rape case filed a case against him by 16- year old girl.[11][12] It is revealed that her boyfriend and a businessman named Sharath rapes her for promising to marry her.[13][14] After she goes to complaint against him. He goes to Monson Mavunkal's House and meet him. And then, he later threatened the girl by saying that 'If you complain against him to the police station, the next day your nude photos will be upload on Social media' which causes her to scared on him and she later withdraw his complaint from police.
Connection with Anitha Pulleyil[edit]
It is believed that Anitha Pulleyil an Italy based Malayali women had included in his Rape, scamming and financial fraud cases. It is learned that the crime branch also inquired about the presence of Cocoon Fest organized by the cyber police and whether Monson used the high connections of Anitha to commit the scam. Anitha's role in Monson's financial dealings was also questioned. It is heard that the crime branch will not summon Anitha settled in Italy to Kerala for the investigation of the case. However, in the wake of Anitha's statement, the crime branch will question Monson again in detail. Based on the information obtained from this, a decision will be taken on whether to summon Anitha or not.[15]
There were reports that Anitha had introduced many wealth pravasis to Monson, many of whom had been defrauded and extorted of money. Anitha had earlier told a private channel that she had introduced Monson to former DGP Lokanath Behra. Former driver Aji had revealed that Anitha knew everything about Monson's antiquities fraud. Aji also testified that Anitha had used Monson’s museum as her office.
