History[edit]

Moree Secondary College has its origins in two separate institutions: Courallie High School, which was located on the Carol Avenue Junior Campus, and Moree Technology High School, which was located on the Albert Street Senior Campus. Courallie High School had been established in 1972, South-West of Moree, while Moree Technology High School was originally known as Moree High School which was established in 1961 until it was renamed in 1990.

In 2001, the decision was made to amalgamate the two schools, and on Friday 17th August of that year, work began on the new high-school, Moree Secondary College. Students from both Courallie High School and Moree Technology High School were integrated into the new school by 2002.

Moree Secondary College had been operating by two campuses, Carol Avenue Junior Campus that year 7-9 students attended and Albert Street Senior Campus that 10-12 students attended. By 2022 it was announced that Moree Secondary College would be consolidated to one campus by 2024, after 7 long years of proposing for the change. In 2023 it was confirmed that the Albert Street Senior Campus was chosen by the community. All students were transitioned and integrated into the campus by the first term of 2024.

The last day of Carol Avenue Junior Campus was 8th of December, 2023 and the bell had rang for the very last time during it's last day of operation. Currently there are no plans by NSW Department of Education on what will be the future of the site.

Connected Communities[edit]

Moree Secondary College follows the Connected Communities approach, which aims to improve education and social outcomes for Aboriginal children and youth in diverse communities across NSW. Through partnerships with local Aboriginal leaders and a place-based approach to education, Connected Communities schools offer a range of services from birth to employment. The strategy is informed by the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and extensive consultation with stakeholders, and features a local School Reference Group for community-school collaboration on decision-making.
