Morgan Antonio Johnson (June 2, 1992) is an American filmmaker, producer, actor, and dancer. He is known for Looking Back Merrifield (2016), Power and Precision (2016), and 250 Miles Up (2017).
Early life[edit]
Johnson was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Sherry Rollins and Matthew Johnson. He attended Jackson High School in Jackson, Missouri where he received numerous honors in football as a placekicker. He holds the record for longest field goal at Jackson High School.[1]
Career[edit]
Starting with Young Redemption (2014), Johnson has produced 7 films and acted in 5 of them. 2 of them scientific related documentaries. In 2016, Johnson filmed a documentary covering Linda Godwin`s career at NASA.[2] To promote the film he offered a flat earth conspiracy group in Indonesia $50,000 to post the film poster on their website with bold letters spelling out "The Earth is Round".[3] Once they rejected his offer, it made a few headlines with Johnson replying "I`m just really irritated that they didn`t accept my offer. It would have been a win win for both of us!". Johnson has had 3 different honors for his films including Honorable Mention for Looking Back Merrifield (2016)[4], Best Mini-Short in June 2017 for Power and Precision (2016), Fiction of The Month in February 2018 for In The Closet - D.C. (2018). In 2018 Johnson will also be filming a documentary about cryonics in Scottsdale, Arizona at Alcor Cryonics facility. [5]
Political Views[edit]
As a promoter at the 2017 St. Louis Pride Fest, Johnson had an altercation with an attendee when she came up and asked him "Why are you here with all these faggots?" Johnson says he responded "Get your homophobic ass out of here." The woman became aggressive and called him a "spic" (although he is half-black and half-white, he suggested that he may look hispanic). She threatened to go home and get her gun, but was eventually escorted off the premise by security. Johnson explained "I 150 percent don`t regret what I said. Anything racist or homophobic or anything like that strikes a cord in me. I saw it as extremely necessary, and if I was in the same situation I would do it again. I have too many friends that are gay and bi. I think it would be a disservice to let that go by without me saying something."[6]
