Moses McWilliams

Moses McWilliams was born in De Kalb, Kemper County, Mississippi in 1860.[1] His parents and siblings are unknown. In 1882, he married Sarah Breedlove later known as Madam C. J. Walker. She married him to have a house of her own, and to escape abuse from her brother-in-law.[2] On June 6, 1885, they had a child named Lelia McWilliams. She later changed her name to A'Lelia Walker.[3] He died in 1887 due to a race riot, possibly by the Ku Klux Klan.[1] His place of death is unknown, but it was most likely in Vicksburg, Mississippi.[1]
