Mothership Glass

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

‘’Mothership Glass’’ is an American functional glass art collective based in Bellingham, Washington. The studio has been described in cannabis and alternative press as producing high-end borosilicate glass pipes and dab rigs, including the “Fab Egg” design and other spherical “ball rig” and have received attention for their secondary-market prices and collector culture.[1] [2]

History

According to multiple publications, glass artist Scott Deppe and collaborator Jake Colito developed early versions of the "Fab Egg" in 2012, and Mothership Glass began operations in Washington state in 2013.[1][3] The Stranger described the Fab Egg as a complex egg-shaped water pipe design that helped catalyze a high-end collector market for functional glass art.[1]

Media coverage has frequently placed Mothership Glass within a broader "heady glass" or functional glass art movement in the United States, where limited releases and distinctive fabrication techniques contribute to high resale values for certain pieces.[3]

Work and designs

Mothership Glass is associated with a lineup of recurring rig models, including the Fab Egg and several spherical or "ball rig" formats. Cannabis media has highlighted the brand for fit-and-finish, airflow engineering, and limited drops aimed at collectors.[4]

Reception

In 2017, The Stranger reported that versions of the Fab Egg sold for more than $100,000 at a Seattle-area auction, citing the growth of a luxury market for collectible glass pieces.[1] A 2019 Cannabis Now feature described Mothership as influential within a subculture of collectors and resellers of high-end functional glass art.[3]

Branding

Mothership Glass has used science fiction and extraterrestrial-themed branding in its marketing and online materials, including "cosmic" language describing the collective's mission and identity.[5]

Founder

Scott Deppe is described in interviews and profiles as the founder of Mothership Glass.[6][7]
