History[edit]

2006–2009: Founding and early years

motion was conceived by motion and graphic designers Elaine Montoya and Becky Padilla, who observed that many working professionals in the motion picture and broadcast industries experience creative burnout largely due to the demands and long hours common in the industry.[8][9] motion served as an intimate "creative retreat" where professionals gathered to revitalize creativity.

motion founders observed that while there were numerous opportunities for working professionals in the motion picture and broadcast industries to further their technical skills, there were no venues where experienced creative professionals could come together as a community to address common issues and be inspired.

In its early years, (2006-2009), motion was held at various hotels in Albuquerque, New Mexico. From 2010-2013,
