Mottram's Beach
Mottram's Beach is a coastal beach located in the county of Dorset, England. It lies along the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its geological significance and scenic coastal features. Mottram's beach is located at the foot of Burning Cliff, so called because oil seeping out of the Kimmeridge shale would be ignited by the oxidation of iron pyrites. Just above the beach is a geological discontinuity, visible clearly from the Dorset coast path, where folded strata are cut and overlain by other rocks.
