Mouhamed Niang, more commonly known as ‘Sena’, is a Senegalese football player who currently plays on loan at Scottish League One side Montrose, on loan from Scottish Championship club Partick Thistle.[1]

Career

Early career

Mouhamed Niang started his career at SJFA West Region Premiership side Pollok, after graduating from the Pollok United Soccer Academy in the summer of 2017, having captained the U19's side the previous season. As the first academy graduate to make the step up, he made his first team debut against Arthurlie in a 1–0 Sectional League Cup win and made his first league start a few games later away to Kirkintilloch Rob Roy in the league. He finished the 2017–18 season with 20 appearances. He made 9 appearances in the 2018–19 season, scoring his first goal for the Lok in a 4–1 win against Maryhill.[2]

Partick Thistle

Niang signed for Scottish Championship club Partick Thistle in September 2018, following a long and complicated work permit application process.[3] Niang made his debut for Thistle playing 86 minutes in a 2–0 win away to Montrose in the Scottish Challenge Cup.[4] Niang signed a one-year contract extension with Thistle in December 2019.[5]

Montrose (Loan)

Niang joined Scottish League One side Montrose, on loan until January 2020.[6] This loan was later extended until the end of the 2019–20 season.[7][8] Overall Niang made 15 appearances and scored once for Montrose in all competitions, as the season came to an early end due to the Coronavirus pandemic.[9][10]
