Dr. Mounes Kalaawi[1] has more than 30 years of surgical experience, trained and certified by the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in Glasgow and England. After gaining experience in the various fields of general surgery and obtaining FRCS in 1989, additional higher surgical training in Digestive surgery and endoscopy with particular emphasis on surgery of the colon and rectum was achieved. He completed, with distinction, a course of study leading to academic achievement in Medical Management from the American College of Physicians Executives. In May 2009, Dr. Kalaawi was awarded the Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from the University of Massachusetts in the United States of America. Dr. Kalaawi is author of many publications in Surgery and Healthcare Management and has been invited to be a speaker in different regional and international conferences and symposia.

Career[edit]

Dr. Kalaawi is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer[2] of Clemenceau Medical Center (CMC) Affiliated with Johns Hopkins International.[3] In 1998, he started working on the set-up and foundation of the medical center and identifying the opportunities and challenges of the center’s new concept of healthcare delivery to Lebanon and the surrounding region.[4] CMC is a modern medical center located in the epicenter of Beirut, designed in accordance with Joint Commission International (JCI) standards.

Dr. Kalaawi is the Founder and Chairman of Clemenceau Medicine International (CMI),[5] an organization whose main duty is the advancement and spread of the Clemenceau Medicine’s mission of patient care both regionally and internationally. CMI’s main target is to plan, design, build, equip and operate healthcare institutions in the region. CMI is currently establishing a chain of healthcare institutions from Diagnostic & Specialty Centers to full-fledged tertiary care hospitals as part of the Clemenceau Medicine Network.
