Mountain Ash Town Hall
Mountain Ash Town Hall (Welsh: Neuadd y Dref, Aberpennar) is a local government building in Mountain Ash, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. The town hall is a Grade II listed building.
History[edit]
First Edition Ordnance Survey shows this site as a workmen's hall in 1874, likely the predecessor of the grand Nixon's Workmen's Institute of 1899, which was built over the other side of the River Cynon[1]. The town hall was completed in 1904 and costed £5,000 as it became the headquarters of Mountain Ash Urban District Council[1]. The Aberdare Canal was formerly sited at the rear of the building until it was filled in by New Road (A4059) in the 1930's[1]. Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck".
