Moya Chou (周佳聖) is a Taiwanese film colorist who has worked in post-production color grading for nearly thirty years, spanning both the photochemical and digital eras.[1][2][3] In 2026 he was named Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year by the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee at the 63rd Golden Horse Awards,[3][4][5] and accepted the drama Innovation Award at the 61st Golden Bell Awards on behalf of the Netflix series Agent from Above (Jishen), on which he served as colorist.[6]

Career

Moya Chou has worked in post-production color grading for close to thirty years, a career that spans the transition from photochemical film to digital cinema.[2][1] In the early 2010s he graded films whose post-production was handled by the post-production house 利達數位影音科技, including Taipei Exchanges and Hometown Boy;[7]:PDF p. 131[8]:PDF p. 181 from 2011 he was credited as digital colorist under Pixelfly (傳翼數位影像) on films such as 10+10 and Machi Action,[8]:PDF p. 118[9]:PDF p. 45 and on The Soul (2021) he was credited under Tetsujin Post-Production (大鐵人影製所). He has graded feature films including Dear Ex, The Soul, I WeirDO, The Pig, the Snake and the Pigeon and A Foggy Tale, and in 2026 graded Sayang, The Age of Goodbyes and The Photo from 1977.[2][4] In television he has graded series such as Three Tears in Borneo and Imperfect Us, and Taiwan Cinema describes him as a renowned colorist who also runs filmmaking and color grading workshops to train industry talent.[10]

In 2020 he discussed his grading of I WeirDO in an interview on the Mandarin-language podcast 後期刊.[11] He has also led color grading workshops, including one hosted by the Kaohsiung-based Unseen Film Studio (看不見工作室).[12]

On 1 October 2026, Wen Tien-hsiang, CEO of the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee, announced Moya Chou as the Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year at the nominations press conference of the 63rd Golden Horse Awards. The committee cited his close collaboration with directors and cinematographers on stories set in different eras and cultural backgrounds.[3][1] On 26 October 2026 he accepted the drama Innovation Award at the 61st Golden Bell Awards on behalf of Agent from Above, on which he served as colorist.[6][13]
