Muhaned Abu Khumra (Arabic: مهند أبو خمرة[1]) (born 05 April 1983) is an Iraqi Director, Writer, and Producer[2]. He is most prominently known for creating the television series Hawa Baghdad. His TV series became one of the most famous TV Series in Iraq. His show had been broadcast on Al-Sharqiya.[3]
Early Life[edit]
Abu Khumra[4] raise was in Baghdad where he completed his studies, then he moved to UAE where he established Etana TV Production with his brother the producer Ali Abu Khumra.[5][6][7]
Career[edit]
His first attribution in directing dramatic comedy shows was Znood El-Sett which was aired on Al Sharqiya TV, which succeed on the highest levels in Iraq and scored the first place in the Iraqi viewership rate in 2009.[8] After that he continued in directing a lot of shows, the most important step was writing and directing Kanary which had been aired in 2010 on Al Sharqiya TV. Then he had an idea to produce the first Iraqi Animation show, so he produces El-Attak aired on Al Sharqiya TV which broke the viewership rate on Youtube, and winning the best show idea prize aired on Al Sharqiya TV. Then El-Attak became an iconic character in Iraq as being the first Iraqi Animation show that aired on the TV.[9][10] In the same year, Abu Khumra was shooting the comedy TV Show Samba in Rio de Janeiro,[11] which was the first Arabic and Iraqi TV show that has been shot in Latin America.[12] In 2012 Muhaned had earned the best comedy show prize in “Cairo Festival for Arabic Media” on the “The biggest liar”, Muhaned had directed this show with his brother Ali Abu Khumra using the last cinematic cameras and the most upgraded visual effects technologies for the first time in Iraq, followed by the second season of the same show which had been aired on Al Rasheed TV. From his sarcastic shows, he directed the TV Show El-Rayes,[13] which uses black comedy and sarcasm in criticizing the political statement in Iraq. Also, he had directed Shalash Men Hay El-Tenk and Habazbooz, and cooperated again with his brother Ali Abu Khumra in directing “Abu El-Masayeb”. Regarding Fashafeesh it should be said that Muhaned had merged the characters and the plot of both Shalash and El-Attak.[14] His Last was Hawa Baghdad which aired on Al Sharqiya TV in May 2019.[15]

Abu Khumra[16] has received numerous awards for his works, In June 2019, he received the award for Best Dramatic Work and Best Director for his contributions to the series Hawa Baghdad.[17][18] In 2015, he received El Kartoosh on behalf of Etana for the best comedy series.[19]
