She has treated patients with complications from cosmetic surgeries performed abroad. In one case, she managed a patient who suffered severe complications after undergoing unauthorized procedures in Turkey, providing high-dose antibiotics and draining infected fat until recovery.[1]
Dr. Gathariki participates in cleft lip and palate surgical camps in rural Kenya, collaborating with the Kenya Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (KSPRAS) to provide free corrective surgeries.[6][2]
Research
Dr. Gathariki has contributed to research on cleft lip and palate management, publishing a study on epidemiological patterns during free outreach camps in Kenya.[6] She also co-authored a paper examining medical students’ knowledge and attitudes toward plastic surgery.[7]
