Mukuru Money Transfer
Mukuru Money Transfer is an international remittance platform founded by a Zimbabwean entrepreneur Rob Burrell.[1] It began offering remittances in 2009.[2][3] It partnered with the World Food Programme at the Tongogara Refugee Camp in Zimbabwe to deliver aid and support the local community.[3]
Mukuru facilitated aid distribution to vulnerable populations in Africa impacted by COVID-19 and economic hardship.[3][4]
In a 2023 interview, Andy Jury, Mukuru's CEO, discussed the company's strategy for navigating Africa's competitive money transfer landscape. It has a customer base of more than 13 million across 50 countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe.[5]
In December 2024, Mukuru signed a one-year sponsorship agreement with Zimbabwe Cricket worth $300,000 as the title sponsor for the Zimbabwe men's national cricket team.[6][7]
