Municipal Service Car

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Municipal Service Car was a concept streetcar that was considered by the Toronto Transit Commission in the 1970s to replace its ageing PCC fleet.

The project began in 1972 and was a cooperative venture between Hawker Siddeley Canada and the Toronto Transit Commission. The vehicle had a bus-like chassis and was a semi-low floor vehicle. Front and rear doors are similar to the current TTC car fleet.

In the end the project was abandoned in favour of the Canadian Light Rail Vehicle (CLRV) developed by the Ontario Transit Development Corporation (later renamed Urban Transportation Development Corporation) in 1973.

No vehicles were produced, and only concept drawings remain of this vehicle.
