Chris Grinwis (died 9 December 2020) was a Dutch supermarket owner, who retired in 2019.[1] He was well known in Halsteren.[2]
Death[edit]
Seven months after his wife died, Grinwis died on 9 December 2020. He was found after people saw that the man had been sitting on the couch in the same position for a day. Ageneral practitioner issued a statement of natural death, probably a cardiac arrest, but there were immediate doubts among the relatives.[3]
In the week following his death, police started an investigation.[4] It revealed that he had died of unnatural causes, which later became known to be poisoning.[2]
Eight months later, the police exhumed the body of his wife Mia.[3]
In October 2021 a woman named Yvon K. was arrested.[5] Yvon K. was the nurse of Mia, the wife of Chris Grinwis. After Mia died, Yvon K. started a relationship with Grinwis.[6] In September 2023 the Public Prosecution Service demanded 19 years in prison for murder. Yvon K. would have killed Grinwis to inherit his millions of Euros.[7][8]
On 25 September 2023, two days prior to trial, Yvon K. was found dead, and a farewell letter was found.[9] She committed suicide.[10]
