Murder of Lola James
Lola James was a 2-year-old girl who was fatally injured by her stepfather Kyle Bevan on 17 July 2020 and died fue to her injuries at University Hospital of Wales on 21 July 2020.[1]
Bevan was tried and convicted of the murder at Swansea Crown Court on 31 March while her mother, Sinead James was convicted of causing or allowing the death of a child and sentenced to six years in prison. Bevan was sentenced to life imprisonment with a 20-year minimum.<ref name="Sky Evans">Tomos Evans (25 April 2023). Retrieved 28 June 2026.</ref> Lola had 101 external injuries including bruises and grazes over her body.[1]
Kyle Bevan was fatally stabbed 26 times in his prison cell by Mark Fellows, Lee Newell and David Taylor at HMP Wakefield on 4 November 2025.[2]
NSPCC called for child protection to be made a "national priority" following Lola's death.[3]
