Murrelektronik GmbH is a German company headquartered in Oppenweiler, (Baden-Württemberg). The company focuses on decentralized electrical installation technology[1]. It develops, manufactures, and sells components and systems for electrical and electronic installation and automation technology.

History

The company was founded in 1975 by Franz Hafner. On June 1, 1993, Murrelektronik acquired the former manufacturing company KSG GmbH in Stollberg, located in the Erzgebirge region. KSG GmbH manufactured contact components and was taken over through the Treuhandanstalt (Treuhand Agency). The site produces connectors.

The headquarters in Oppenweiler[2], near Stuttgart, houses one of five production facilities, as well as the administrative and warehouse center. Products are also manufactured in Stollberg (Saxony), Stod (Czech Republic), Atlanta (United States), and Shanghai (China). As of 2025, the company employs over 3,000 people worldwide. Independent branches and distributors operate in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Products

The company’s product portfolio includes connection technology such as connectors and passive distribution systems, I/O and IO-Link systems including fieldbus[3] distributors and modular fieldbus units, line filters and interference suppression technology components, power supplies and network infrastructure solutions. The company also offers modular systems designed for cabinet-free automation[4].

In addition to hardware products, Murrelektronik provides digital services that support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of machinery and industrial systems.
