Muse Paintbar (“Muse”) is an American national paint and sip company headquartered in New York City, New York. Founded in 2012, Muse Paintbar has 24 locations in 8 states along the East Coast from Maine to Virginia. They offer step-by-step group art lessons that combine an art studio with a restaurant & bar that serves wine, beer and shareable bites[1][2][3]. Muse holds public painting events daily, where local artists teach guests how to paint with acrylics on canvas, wooden signs, and glassware such as wine glasses, mason jars and vases. Each studio has additional rooms where organizers can host private events with the painting of their choice.[4]

History[edit]

Muse Paintbar was founded by Stan Finch and Ray Weaver while Finch was earning his MBA at Harvard Business School. Having observed similar businesses in his home state of Texas, Finch teamed up with Weaver, a marketing professor at HBS, and they opened their first location in Manchester, New Hampshire. The concept was borne out of the idea that people need an antidote to the current high-tech environment. The technique they developed and scaled, with the consultation of trained artists, enables anyone to create a painting they feel proud of, with no previous artistic experience.[5][6]
