Mushir Selim Pasha
Lieutenant General (Mushir) Selim Pasha (1802-1855) is considered one of the most honored Egyptian military generals in history, as he was described in Prince Tusun's book as "One of Colonel Seve's prominent students". His most notable service was in the Crimean War, where he commanded the first commander of the Egyptian land forces during the war. Selim Pasha was killed in action on February 17th, 1855, during the Battle of Eupatoria.

Military Career
Prince Omar Tosun describes Selim Pasha as having fathered disciples of Suleiman Pasha. The French entrusted Muhammad Ali Pasha with the establishment of the Egyptian army, and Selim Pasha was his chief of staff. [1] Selim Fatehi Pasha participated in the wars of Ibrahim Pasha in the Levant and Anatolia, and he was one of its heroes. During the reign of Muhammad Ali Pasha, he became the head of the Military Staff School, and in 1848 he was appointed commander of the infantry (Al-Bayada). He was one of the closest Egyptian military leaders to European civilization.
In 1853, Selim Fatehi Pasha took command of Egyptian forces sent by Abbas I of Egypt to the rescue of the Ottoman Empire in the Crimean War. His army was composed of 6 infantry Regiments (organized into three Brigades), a total of 15704 soldiers, one Cavalry Regiment consisting of 1291 soldiers, and one Artillery Regiment consisting of 2727 soldiers and 12 batteries of 6 guns each.
Family
He married Khadija Hanem Al-Faragiya (of Al-Ashraf) and had two children. One of his grandsons is the most prominent military historian, Major General Staff of war, Hassan Fatehi (1921-2008), the author of the Encyclopedia "arts of war in the Islamic conquests."
Death
General Selim Pasha Fatehi was killed in the Battle of Eupatoria (Battle of Kuzloh) in the Crimean War on Saturday, 29th of Jumada Al Awal in 1271 AH, corresponding to February 17, 1855 AD. He was buried by order of Sirdar of the Ottoman armies, Ikram Umar Pasha, in Kuzloh (Eupatoria) near the Khan Jamai Mosque. Ahmed Pasha Al-Manqali replaced him as the commander of the Egyptian forces, until September 27, 1855.
