Miles Davidson, known for his stage name "MUTO", is an electronic music producer from the northern beaches of Sydney, Australia. His popularity was spurred by his discovery on Australian public radio station, Triple J Unearthed[1], which is centred around the discovery of new Australian musicians.

MUTO began receiving significant popularity, and airtime on both Triple J Unearthed, and sister station Triple J in 2017, most notably with his single, "Say Nothing (Feat. Emerson Leif)". Muto also received a popularity boost spurred by Flume sharing a remix of "What Goes Around...Comes Around"[2]. He has toured with acts such as Odesza[3][4][5][6] and Crooked Colours. He has also signed with British record label, Virgin EMI.[5][6]

Personal Life[edit]

Muto's father is a producer[6]. Miles has also been a close personal friend of fellow Australian electronic artist, Flume since the age of 5[7][6].

Influences[edit]

"I don't think there is one main source for my inspiration as that can limit creativity. I take inspiration from a range of things and genres, such as peculiar percussion rhythms or strange samples that have some kind of melodic potential that I can then manipulate to my own taste. I try to get as weird and creative as possible with what I'm working with whilst still trying to keep things relatable.", Miles says in a Triple J Unearthed interview.[1] Artists he has named as inspiration include Flume, Jamie XX, SBTRKT, Flying Lotus, Ta-ku, and Kaytranada.[1]

MUTO has also produced remixes of songs such as "What Goes Around...Comes Around" by Justin Timberlake, "White Lies" by Odesza, "Don't U Want Me" by Young Franco, and "Clap Your Hands" by Whilk and Misky.
