Myke Chambers

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Myke Chambers (b. 1975) is a tattoo artist, recognized for his specialization in the American Traditional style of tattooing, and a public figure. He’s been featured on the cover of numerous magazines, including Inked Magazine.[1] While Chambers is most notably recognized for his specific style of tattooing, he is also a former addict and shares his journey with others in order to help them in their recovery. [2] He is considered a “heavyweight” [3] in the tattoo industry by many and is the owner Seven Swords Tattoo Company [4] in Philadelphia, PA.

Early Life[edit]

Myke was born in Florida, but grew up mostly between Los Angeles and Austin, Texas.[5] His early life is a large part of why he has been recognized and written about as much as he has been. [6] He had a rough childhood, became addicted to drugs and alcohol, and spent a large part of his younger years institutionalized. [5] After his rehabilitation, Myke began donating his time to local prisons, speaking to others who seem trapped in the same cycle he was in as a young adult. [5]

Career[edit]

Myke Chambers did his first amateur tattoo at 12 years old.[7]. He began tattooing full-time in the early 1990’s with an apprenticeship in New Orleans. [8]. After completing his apprenticeship, and tattooing in LA for a while, he began traveling across the U.S., showcasing his work at tattoo conventions. He gained his recognition in the tattoo community for his specific style of tattooing, which has deep roots in Traditional Americana. [9]
