Introduction[edit]

Mytrah Energy is power producer with 40 operational and under-development power projects across India with an aggregate capacity of 2000 MW. Mytrah’s power production model is based on harnessing the power of wind with wind masts located across India, to drive efficient management of power assets through its Generation Management Centre.

Company History[edit]

Founded in 2008, Mytrah Energy (earlier known as Caparo Energy) was incorporated in Guernsey, in August 2010, a parent company of MEIL. The company achieved AIM (Alternative Investment Market) listing in London in October 2010.

Ravi Kailas is the founder and Chairman of the Mytrah Group. Vikram Kailas is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Mytrah Energy (India) Pvt. Ltd.

Funding[edit]

  • Mytrah Energy listed on AIM in October 2010, after raining $80m from institutional investors.[1]
  • In 2011, India Infrastructure Fund I, a fund managed by IDFC Alternatives, invested Rs 350 crore in Mytrah Energy (India) via compulsory convertible preference shares.[2]
  • Mytrah Energy raised mezzanine funding from PFS of Rs. 100 Crores, in September 2012.[3]
  • In 2014, Mytrah raised $70 million from Merrill Lynch International and Funds, managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management LLC, reaching a portfolio of 543 MW.[4]
  • In 2016, GE Energy acquired 49% stake by investing $31 million in Mytrah Vayu (Tungabhadra) Private (MVTPL), a wind energy subsidiary of Mytrah Energy Private Limited (MEPL).[5]
  • In May 2018, Mytrah Energy delisted from the AIM, London.[6]

Projects[edit]

  • In year 2014, Mytrah executed its 1st self-developed wind projects with a cumulative capacity of 137.7 MW in the state of Andhra Pradesh & Karnataka and additional 100.5 MW in Tamil Nadu.[7]
  • By year 2016 Mytrah added 456.1 MW of wind capacity and photovoltaic solar power projects in Telangana and Punjab with a capacity of 100 MW.[8]

  • Silver at the Wind Power Project of the Year at the Asian Power Awards 2017, September 2017[9]
  • Wind Resource Assessment company of the Year by the Indian Wind Energy Forum; Wind Farm Control Centre of the Year- Developer by the Indian Wind Energy Forum, October 2017[10]
